11 Day Beach Holiday and Safari in Kenya and Tanzania

Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park

You will be picked up either from the airport or from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. in order to begin your safari journey. You will arrive at Tsavo East National Park in time for lunch and some free time before setting out on a late-afternoon game drive. Tsavo East is known for excellent game viewing.

Sighted animals can include lions, leopards, cheetah, zebras, giraffes, servals, antelopes, kongoni, lesser kudu, oryx, klipspringer, impala, striped hyena, ostriches, gazelles, buffalos, elephants, and many more. You also have the chance to see a variety of migratory and native birds, particularly between late October and early January. Dinner and overnight will be at Voi Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park to Tsavo West National Park

After an early-morning game drive, you will have a full breakfast before heading to Tsavo West National Park. You will arrive at your destination in time for lunch. In the late afternoon, you will visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, which is a 70-square-meter fenced area where Tsavo’s growing population of endangered black rhino are inching their way back from the chasm of extinction that was forced upon them by the rampant poaching in the 1960s.

After the visit, you will proceed on a game drive and see buffalos, elephants, lions, cheetah, giraffes, and more. As the sun sets, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park

The sunrise will find you ready for an early-morning “spice” game drive. You will visit Mzima Springs and explore on foot to see hippos, crocodiles, exotic fish, and tropical vegetation. On your drive this morning, you will also get to see many residents and migratory bird species. You will then return for breakfast and check out of your hotel before proceeding further south to Amboseli National Park, an approximate two-hour journey.

After lunch in Amboseli, you will relax before setting out on your afternoon game drive. Amboseli is a relatively small park, so animal spotting is easy and fast! On a clear day, you should be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro from a distance.

Some of the common animals you might see are large families of elephants, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gazelles, hyenas, giraffes, cheetahs, monkeys, baboons, hippos, and prolific birdlife (up to approximately 425 species). You will return to your lodge or camp for meals and overnight.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is a big game park. It features elephants, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, and giraffes. Two game drives are planned for today, both of which will introduce you to the intense beauty and drama that fill each day here.

Predators stalk the herds of grazing animals, recreating the age-old story of life and death under the African sun, a lushly beautiful setting. In the evening, you will return to the lodge or cozy camp for a steaming bath, cocktails, and a sumptuous dinner. You will also have the option to visit a Maasai village (at an extra cost) in order to indulge in their dances and learn about their lifestyle. Dinner and overnight will be at Kibo Safari Camp.

Day 5: Amboseli National Park to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy an early-morning breakfast at your lodge and then depart for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Your afternoon game drive in this famous reserve reveals wonders. Animals present include lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and more. Dinner and overnight will be at Zebra Plains Mara.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

The day in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve will be spent in search of the big cats of the Mara and the spectacular wildebeest migration. Remember to keep a sharp lookout. You may witness a dramatic hunt, a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree, or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators.

The Mara has one of the richest wildlife ensembles. It is also the backdrop for the spectacular world-famous annual wildebeest migration. The migration is considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world, especially as they cross the Mara River. The reserve has over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara and patience is usually rewarded with unique sightings

Day 7: Maasai Mara National to Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early breakfast at your camp, you will depart Maasai Mara National Reserve for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Check-in at the lodge and enjoy a sumptuous lunch and relaxation before your afternoon game drive.

Later in the afternoon, during your game drive, you are likely to see a variety of birds on the lake and many different types of wildlife, including the white and black rhino, lion, leopard, and more. Your dinner and overnight will be at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru National Park to Zanzibar Island

Enjoy breakfast and depart to Nairobi for a scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you will be picked up by a hotel representative and dropped off at the Z Hotel on a half-board basis.

Days 9 and 10: Zanzibar Island

You will spend the next few days and nights by the beautiful beach. This is the perfect end to a safari as you can relax and laze away the days on the white sandy beaches or on the turquoise waters.

Zanzibar is the ideal retreat. The shores of Zanzibar host some of the world’s most splendid coral reefs, making diving one of the biggest attractions there. The underwater marine life is a world of its own, and you will want to spend hours exploring the surroundings! Your meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and your overnight will be at the luxurious Z Hotel.

Your stay in Zanzibar can last as many days as your desire, although it is recommended to stay for at least two nights. It is possible to organize tours to the exotic city of Stone Town, which is a fusion of Arabic, European, African, and Indian cultures. It is famous for being the birthplace of Freddie Mercury, labyrinthine streets, local markets, and of course, the famous spices!

Day 11: Zanzibar Island to Nairobi

After your stay in Zanzibar, you will be transferred to the airport to connect with a flight out of Tanzania. You will be heading to Nairobi. On this journey, you will be able to organize all your memories and feelings of this once-in-a-lifetime journey that will forever have a place in your heart.
