DAY 2:GAME DRIVES IN MARA+FLIGHT TO MOMBASA+TRANSFER TO HOTEL
You’ll get up at first light for a full English breakfast and full-day game drives at 7 am in one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Famous for the Great Migration, the Park is the only protected area with an indigenous population of the endangered Black Rhinos. All members of the Big Five reside here all year round. African wild dogs are rare because of the stiff competition from the honchos of the jungle, the golden lions, who often decimate their populations. The Mara ecosystem, spanning across Serengeti and Ngorongoro, has one of the highest densities of predators. Even the dramatic arrival of the Annual Migration merely adds to an already abundant resident wildlife that awaits discovery. At noon, you’ll have a piquant picnic lunch in this sanctuary for wildlife. Later, you’ll be transferred to Musiara Airstrip for departure on your flight at 2 pm to Mombasa Airport. You’ll arrive around 4 pm. Our driver will then transfer you from the airport to your hotel anywhere in the city.
DAY 3:MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE TO MOMBASA
You’ll have one full day in the Masai Mara with a flexible schedule and unlimited mileage. After breakfast, we will have a full-day game drive with packed lunch provided. The reserve is well known for its black-manned lions as well as its abundant resident wildlife. It’s one of the few places where it’s possible to see the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many of the cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under one’s vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey.
For the bird enthusiast, almost 500 species have been recorded: among these, 16 species of eagle, many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 of bustard (including the kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds.
